Lieutenant Colonel Q.E. Lawson of Czar and Edmonton, Alberta with 25 years
in Canada, Europe, Korea and Indo-China was appointed Provost Marshal for
the Canadian Forces on 02 December 1964.
He was promoted to LCol on the 2oth May 1963 when he vacated the appointment
of Deputy Assistant Adjuntant General at Headquarters Centeral Ontario area,
Ortona Barracks, Oakville, ON, a post he held since March 1959.
A graduate of the Czar, AB Highschool, LCol Lawson enlisted into 2 Provost
Company in 1940 and went overseas the same year. He was commissioned in 1943
and served with No. 1 Division in Italy and No. 5 Division in North West Europe.
After attending the Canadian Army Staff College in 1952 he served for a year in
command of the British Commonwealth Division Provost Company in Korea. Following
a tour of duty as Deputy Provost Marshal at Army Headquarters he was named
Military Adviser to the International Truth Commission in Cambodia. Immediately
prior to being appointed Provost Marshal Army, he was the Provost Marshal of the
United Nations Force In Cyprus (UNFICYP) from the 21 May 1964 - 21 November 1964.
